White Oak Flooring

White Oak is a classic hardwood flooring choice, known for its strength, subtle grain, and modern appeal. Its tight grain and light, neutral tones make it ideal for both traditional and contemporary interiors. White Oak is highly durable and takes stain beautifully, allowing for a wide range of finishes while standing up to heavy use over time.

Types of Cuts

Plain Sawn (Flat Sawn)

Plain sawn is the most common and cost-effective method. It produces wider grain patterns with cathedral-like arches that vary from board to board. While it has more movement with moisture changes than rift or quarter sawn, it still performs well and is popular for furniture, trim, and general construction. This cut highlights the traditional, warm look of white oak.

Quarter Sawn

Quarter sawn white oak is known for its striking medullary ray flecks—natural patterns that add visual interest to the wood. This cut also offers excellent stability and resists cupping and twisting, making it a smart choice for high-traffic flooring, doors, and architectural millwork. Quarter sawn boards are cut at 90° angles to the growth rings.
