Most of our wood slabs are milled to a standard thickness of 2 inches, with varied widths and lengths to suit a wide range of project needs. We currently stock a curated selection of species including Walnut, Cypress, Cherry, Poplar, Maple, Eastern Red Cedar, and Spalted Maple.

Pricing ranges from $149 to $950, depending on the size, species, and character of each individual slab. Whether you’re building a custom tabletop, bench, or statement piece, you’ll find a range of high-quality options to choose from in our inventory.

TIDEWATER SLABS

At Tidewater Lumber, we hand-select every live edge wood slab for its natural beauty, unique grain patterns, and character. Each slab is milled and sawn on-site at our fully equipped lumber yard, giving us complete control over quality and craftsmanship from start to finish. We use a slow, controlled curing process to minimize cupping and ensure each slab retains its natural strength, stability, and visual appeal.

Types of Paneling

Shiplap Paneling

Shiplap paneling, with its long history as both siding and interior wall covering, features boards with a distinctive gap that adds a touch of rustic charm. This style has surged in popularity thanks to its prominent use by Chip and Joanna Gaines on “Fixer Upper,” along with widespread sharing on Pinterest and endorsements by architects. This aesthetic brings a warm, inviting element to any space.

Tongue and Groove Paneling

This paneling has a tongue on one edge and a groove on the other, allowing the boards to fit snugly together. This design conceals the nails for a smooth, seamless look and can be installed horizontally or vertically.

Traditionally, securing a board involves nailing at the top and bottom of its face, followed by puttying before final finishing. To streamline this, we’ve refined our tongue and groove system to support blind nailing through the tongue, eliminating visible nail holes and maintaining a clean finish.

Nickel Gap Paneling

Nickel gap paneling is named for the consistent 1/8” gap it leaves between boards, roughly the width of a nickel, creating a modern, clean-lined aesthetic. This versatile paneling can be installed horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. This product looks like the shiplap but it can be blind nailed.

Tidewater carries a wide variety of materials suitable for Nickel Gap, including Poplar, Yellow Pine, White Pine, Cypress (#2 and Select), MDF, Western Red Cedar, Eastern Red Cedar, Reclaimed Barnwood, and Circle Sawn varieties of Oak and Yellow Pine. Poplar is particularly stable and ideal for painting due to its minimal knotting, while Eastern White Pine is excellent for staining or achieving a whitewashed look.
